Quality Assurance Assistant

Purpose of role:

Working with the operations and technical team, operating within the framework of HACCP to ensure that all product is manufactured safely and to the agreed customer specifications.

Key responsibilities:
  • Verify effectiveness of daily deep cleaning through inspection and rapid hygiene routine environmental swabbing
  • Carry out appropriate pre-production checks to ensure timeliness of start up
  • Collect Key Performance Indicator data with a view to developing statistical measurement of business performance
  • Collection of microbiological samples against company sampling plan
  • Work with audit team during investigations into micro issues collecting sampling and auditing process
  • Conduct investigation and ensure appropriate corrective action in the event of customer complaints
  • Organise daily product monitoring analysis panels to verify conformance to specification. Compile data for further analysis
  • Use the daily production plan and raw material sheets to ensure that all retail products and part processed raw materials are collected for microbiological and shelf life analysis
  • To conduct quality checks against the specifications for all relevant products and processes
  • To ensure that all shelf life samples are kept for the duration of their life against the agreed time/temperature regimes and that the area where they are stored is kept clean and free from out of date samples
  • To report any out of specification results to the operations and technical teams
  • To ensure that microbiological samples are sent out against the predefined schedules and that the samples are logged onto the LIMS system and the registration files are sent through to the External Laboratory
  • Conduct any tests as requested by the technical team from any factory trials

Skills / attributes:
  • Knowledge of systems which control food safety, integrity, legality, quality, eg HACCP, GMP, Hygiene, Systems
  • Understanding of food microbiology
  • Computer literate
  • Good attention to detail

  • 12 hour shift on 2 week rotating pattern with every other weekend off
